"DOMINIC VIRTOSU": Debut Exhibition of Dominic Virtosu
Past exhibition
Overview
Impulse Gallery is delighted to introduce the new representation of Dominic Virtosu in Lucerne, Switzerland. Dominic-Petru Virtosu was born in 1983 in Bucharest, Romania. He completed his formal artistic education with a license in painting in the class of renowned Romanian artist Florin Ciubotaru and a master's in 2013 at the Bucharest National University of Arts. Simultaneously, Virtosu also attended the prestigious Hochschule fur Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig as an exchange student where he was guided by the style and colour of Annette Schroter.
Virtosu's German education proved to be a founding element for his work ethic and discipline that led him to continuously develop his artistic practice over the years. At the same time, his French heritage also played a part in creating a strong connection to the cultural and artistic environment of Paris where the most relevant and prestigious museums of the time were readily accessible.
Virtosu's effort to questions his environment and society’s tendencies in a broader sense lay at the center of the older works of the artist. This thought is still visible in the brand new Jungle Series that are exclusively debuting at Impulse Gallery. Inspiring titles like Leaves of Truth showcase this attempt to set forth this deeper conversation whilst other titles such as Serenity on Blue represent the artist's aspiration to showcase the simplicity of colour and nature. Characterized by fine strokes of thick oil on a spotless background, the paintings make the flora come to live under the eye....
